Operation of Direct Transaction Markets at Jamsil Station and Jonggak Station in Seoul Subway
Seoul Metro Operates Direct Market at Jamsil and Jonggak Stations from 18th to 30th... Six Local Governments Including Gangwon Participate, Selling Various Regional Agricultural and Specialty Products Like Dried Vegetables and Meokgol Pears
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Direct trade markets will be held at Jamsil Station and Jonggak Station of the Seoul Subway.
Seoul Metro announced that, after recruiting local governments wishing to promote the sale of regional agricultural products and specialties, it will operate short-term local agricultural and specialty product direct trade markets together with six local governments from the 18th to the 30th.
The company stated that it will collaborate with six local governments including Gangwon-do, Namyangju-si, and Yeongdong-gun to operate the short-term agricultural and specialty product direct trade market called ‘Danbi Jangteo’ at Jamsil Station on Line 2 and Jonggak Station on Line 1.
Danbi Jangteo is an event resumed after two years, building on the success of the 2020 direct trade market, and was prepared to help revitalize sales for local farmers and fishermen who have experienced a downturn due to COVID-19 and to promote agricultural and specialty products.
Danbi Jangteo will be held from November 18 to 30 at Jamsil Station on Line 2 and Jonggak Station on Line 1. It is expected to support not only the expansion of sales channels for local farms but also consumers who want to see and purchase excellent local agricultural and specialty products such as dried vegetables from Gangwon-do and Meokgol pears from Namyangju-si.
Each local government will operate the market for 1 to 3 days, and products can be paid for by cash or card.
Since Danbi Jangteo will be held at stations with high foot traffic, Seoul Metro is taking thorough safety measures. At Jamsil Station, booths will be installed inside vacant stores, and at Jonggak Station, booths will be set up in idle spaces between pillars to avoid obstructing passenger traffic. By reducing the number of operating stations to two, on-site management is expected to be smooth.
