Hanyang's Company-wide Campaign to Achieve 'Zero Serious Accidents' by Year-end
[Asia Economy Reporter Noh Kyung-jo] Hanyang announced on the 18th that it will conduct a company-wide campaign to achieve 'Zero Serious Accidents' by the end of the year.
As part of the campaign, executives including CEO Kim Hyung-il visited 38 construction sites nationwide the day before, including Pungse-myeon in Cheonan-si, Chungnam, and Dogok-ri in Namyangju-si, Gyeonggi, to conduct safety inspections. They checked for safety blind spots and hazards at the sites, verified compliance with winter fire prevention guidelines, and whether fire drill simulations were conducted. They also held a 'Zero Accident Resolution Meeting' with on-site workers to prevent serious accidents.
This year, Hanyang is implementing safety management programs aimed at zero serious accidents. The main programs include the '1·3·5 Safety Culture Activities' and the '9 TO 5 Daily Process Safety Meetings.'
The 1·3·5 Safety Culture Activities stand for 1-minute Toolbox Meeting (TBM), 3-minute stretching, and 5-minute tidying up. This activity helps workers identify workplace hazards and eliminate causes by adhering to basics and principles, thereby preventing accidents caused by unsafe behaviors or conditions. The 9 TO 5 Daily Process Safety Meetings involve a 9 a.m. inspection led by the site manager to check and improve unsafe conditions and behaviors, and a 5 p.m. review and discussion of corrective actions for issues found in the morning inspection and plans for the next day's work.
Hanyang has also introduced smart systems at sites to prevent accidents. These include collision prevention systems that warn nearby workers when heavy equipment such as forklifts and tower cranes approach, fall hazard warning systems, and toxic gas detectors. Regular safety and health training is conducted for employees and partner company staff, and safety and health meetings with partner companies are held at the end of the year.
