Seoul Facilities Corporation, Road Infrastructure Alliance Performance Sharing Meeting... 1st Anniversary of Launch
16 Domestic Road Management Agencies Join Hands
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Seoul Facilities Corporation announced on the 18th that it will hold the ‘1st Road Infrastructure Alliance Performance Sharing Meeting’ at Korea University Hana Square.
The Road Infrastructure Alliance is a road management cooperation organization launched last year, with 16 institutions participating, including Korea Expressway Corporation, Korea Land and Infrastructure Safety Corporation, and Seoul National University. The alliance institutions cooperate to establish and develop a management system for aging roads by △participating in national research and development (R&D) for social overhead capital (SOC) digital cooperation projects and supporting private technology development △publishing recommendations for PSC field technology improvements △preventing major accidents through sharing and spreading construction safety technologies △forming social consensus on aging infrastructure issues.
It has been one year since Seoul Facilities Corporation, the Korean Society of Bridge and Structural Engineering, and 16 other infrastructure specialized institutions gathered under the name of the Road Infrastructure Alliance to respond to the maintenance of increasingly aging infrastructure.
The performance sharing meeting will begin with Seoul Facilities Corporation explaining the current operational status, followed by Korea Land and Infrastructure Safety Corporation presenting the ‘Progress of National R&D for Advanced Infrastructure Management Technology Development.’ Then, the Korean Society of Bridge and Structural Engineering will share ‘Durability Improvement Measures for PSC Bridges,’ and Korea Expressway Corporation will share ‘Optimization Measures for Traffic Blockage at Highway Maintenance Sites.’
Among the alliance activities, the ‘Advanced Infrastructure Management Technology Development Project,’ a 30.6 billion KRW research project, is a safety assurance project for automobile-only roads. Starting next year, the plan is to begin building a value evaluation system, conduct pilot operations and feedback the following year, and start full-scale operation in 2025. The Korea Land and Infrastructure Safety Corporation leads the project, with joint research and demonstration work involving the corporation and the Construction Technology Research Institute. The national R&D ‘Advanced Infrastructure Management Technology Development Project’ focuses on △developing high-efficiency inspection/diagnosis technologies for automation and unmanned operation △developing rapid and precise repair/reinforcement technologies △developing performance-centered proactive maintenance technologies.
