[Asia Economy Reporter Han Yeju] KOTRA held the 'Mid-sized Enterprises New Business Transition Support Forum Consultation' at the JW Marriott Hotel in Seoul on the 18th, in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the KOSDAQ Association.
About 160 mid-sized companies interested in entering new businesses and overseas mergers and acquisitions (M&A), along with M&A advisory firms such as KPMG, participated in this event. It consisted of a forum addressing the current status and outlook of future growth industries and new business transitions utilizing overseas M&A, as well as an overseas M&A consultation session.
At the forum, the current status and prospects of promising sectors for Korean companies such as future vehicles, biohealth, and energy were presented, along with case studies of Korean companies that successfully diversified their businesses through overseas M&A. Additionally, about 60 overseas M&A listings available for acquisition by mid-sized companies were introduced, and one-on-one consultations were conducted with companies that had pre-registered, providing more practical new business transition solutions.
Through this event, KOTRA proposed overseas M&A as a swift and efficient method for mid-sized companies to enter new businesses, while presenting forecasts and opportunity factors for the three major future growth industries.
In particular, KOTRA offers various support programs related to overseas M&A, from discovering overseas listings to post-acquisition integration. Services include M&A strategy formulation, provision of listings, support for overseas due diligence, connection with local advisory firms, and coverage of due diligence costs. Furthermore, by utilizing KOTRA’s overseas trade centers, they continuously discover overseas listings and match mid-sized companies with listed companies, providing diverse services to facilitate easy access to overseas M&A for Korean mid-sized enterprises.
KOTRA plans to continuously discover and promote various support projects in cooperation with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and related government agencies to assist mid-sized companies in transitioning to new businesses and enhancing global competitiveness.
