Young Science Enthusiasts, Gather at UNIST! ... UNIST Hosts 'Ulju-gun STEM Career Experience'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Duyul] UNIST is conducting the "Ulju-gun STEM Career Experience" for first-year middle school students in Ulju-gun from the 4th to the 18th of this month.
The career experience is sponsored by Ulju-gun and organized by the UNIST Leadership Center to provide information about the somewhat unfamiliar STEM fields and to nurture dreams of pursuing STEM studies.
The Ulju-gun STEM Career Experience is held at the UNIST indoor gymnasium, where booths are set up by department. Participating middle school students can gain more direct experience through simple experiments at each department booth.
At the Computer Engineering booth, students can directly experience artificial intelligence programs under the guidance of UNIST student mentors. Additionally, the Biotechnology booth offers an opportunity to extract DNA from plants.
This year marks the 8th year of the Ulju-gun STEM Career Experience. The 6th and 7th sessions were conducted as non-face-to-face experiences or dispatched career experiences by UNIST student mentors due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A student who participated in the program said, "I didn't know much about STEM, but it was beneficial to be able to try actual experiments," sharing their impression of the program.
