Prosecutors Detain Democratic Party National Disability Committee Chair for 'Violation of the Attorney Act'
Suspected of Receiving 80 Million Won from a Construction Contractor
On the 15th, the prosecution arrested Yoon Hee-sik, the National Disability Committee Chair of the Democratic Party of Korea, on charges of violating the Attorney-at-Law Act.

[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Gyumin] The prosecution has arrested Yoon Heesik, chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea's National Disability Committee, on charges of receiving tens of millions of won under the pretense of helping to purchase a building.
On the 16th, the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office announced that it had arrested Chairman Yoon the previous day on charges of violating the Attorney-at-Law Act. According to the prosecution, from 2020 until last year, Chairman Yoon is accused of receiving 80 million won from a construction businessman friend by promising to help the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) purchase the friend's building.
Chairman Yoon served as the head of the Disability Committee for Lee Jae-myung, then the Democratic Party presidential candidate, during the last presidential election. In the 18th presidential election, he also served as a policy advisor to Moon Jae-in, then a presidential candidate.
The prosecution is also reportedly investigating whether Chairman Yoon made additional requests to LH.
