On the 16th, LG Electronics and Seoul announced that they will conduct a pilot project for the 'Child Traffic Safety Specialized System Construction' using LG Electronics' mobile solution. The main purpose of this project is to prevent accidents by providing early warnings of collision risks among pedestrians, vehicles, motorcycles, kickboards, and bicycles through the mobile app 'Traffic Safety Smart Notifier,' developed by LG Electronics and Seoul.
This app is available for anyone to download and use on mobile devices, and the more users?from pedestrians including children to drivers?the greater the contribution to preventing collision accidents. The pilot location was set around Hwagok-dong (Districts 2, 4, and 8) in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, considering road structure, traffic conditions, and pilot effectiveness. The effectiveness of the pilot operation will be verified until the first half of next year. The app automatically activates around Hwagok-dong, the pilot area.
The app transmits users' current location, movement direction, speed, and other data to a 5G cloud system for real-time collection and analysis. When collision risks are predicted based on the analyzed information, it sends warning messages through sound and vibration to help prevent accidents.
Additionally, it is linked with AI-based smart CCTVs to detect collision risks for pedestrians who have not installed the app. The CCTVs identify pedestrians and vehicles, calculate their location, movement direction, and speed, and immediately notify drivers using the app if a dangerous situation is predicted. Seoul plans to install 22 smart CCTVs at seven major points with high pedestrian traffic.
