Daegu Catholic University Department of Food Service and Culinary Arts Sweeps Grand Prize at International Cooking Competition
Daegu Catholic University students gathered in one place to celebrate after sweeping the grand prize at the international cooking competition.
View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Koo Dae-seon] Students from the Department of Food Service and Culinary Arts at Daegu Catholic University recently won two grand prizes at the "2022 10th Korean Food Day Grand Festival, K-Food International Cooking Competition" organized by the Korea Hansik Association.
A team of eight, including third-year student Noh Min-gyun from the Department of Food Service and Culinary Arts, was honored with the grand prize in the traditional food category team competition (Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award). They submitted dishes using representative local specialties from across the country such as Hanwoo beef, seafood, Sundae (Korean blood sausage), ginseng, and bamboo shoots, receiving the highest award of the competition for their healing menu suited to the tastes of food service professionals.
Another team of eight, including third-year student Han Seung-heon, won the grand prize (Seoul Mayor's Award) in the traditional liquor cocktail and drinking table category. Their dishes were praised for using easily accessible ingredients to create popular dishes that can satisfy the tastes of people worldwide.
