Gwangju Technopark 9th Director Kim Seon-min Retires
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Kim Seon-min, the 9th president of Gwangju Technopark, held a retirement ceremony on the 15th at the Gwangju Technopark main conference room, concluding his 2 years and 8 months of service.
The retirement ceremony was limited to internal staff only.
President Kim retired from 29 years of public service, including positions such as Director of the Industrial Science and SME Policy Bureau at the Office for Government Policy Coordination and Director of the Trade and Investment Office at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and was inaugurated as the 9th president of Gwangju Technopark in March 2020.
During his tenure, President Kim was recognized for creating innovative achievements for regional industry and the development of Gwangju Technopark, such as establishing the largest AI fund among local governments worth 109.8 billion KRW, formulating the Gwangju-type materials and components development plan, attracting national projects worth over 100 billion KRW for three consecutive years, building a future mobility leading city, and developing an advanced medical complex, presenting a future blueprint for Gwangju.
He also played a leading role in realizing and spreading social value responsibilities among local institutions through the launch of the ‘Advanced Industrial Complex Social Value Community.’
On the 15th, President Kim stated, “Gwangju is now transitioning from a city of politics to a city of industry,” and added, “I hope Gwangju Technopark will play a leading role in the further development of Gwangju’s industry.”
