60-Year-Old Arrested on the Spot for Threatening with a Weapon After Protest Against "No Smoking"
Special Assault and Obstruction of Official Duties Charges
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] A man who threatened a pedestrian with a weapon after being confronted for smoking in an apartment complex was arrested by the police.
On the 14th, the Suseo Police Station in Seoul arrested a man in his 60s, identified as Mr. A, on charges of special assault and obstruction of official duties at around 7:10 PM the previous day.
Mr. A is accused of threatening a man in his 30s, Mr. B, who protested against him smoking inside an apartment complex located in Jagok-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, by wielding a stainless steel rod, bricks, and a weapon from a flower bed. Mr. A is also charged with threatening the police officers who arrived at the scene with the weapon.
According to the police, a witness who saw the incident directly reported it to 112.

A police official stated, "We are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the incident" and added, "We plan to thoroughly analyze CCTV footage and other evidence."
