[Seoul District News] Gwanak-gu to Host '2022 Gwanak Smart City Festival' on 18-19 at District Office Auditorium and Plaza: Expert Forums on IoT, AI, Big Data, Policy Discussions for Smart City Implementation & Future Tech Experiences Including Robots, Drones, VR, Hologram Performances... Seodaemun-gu to Hold 'Science Concert for Youth and General Public' on 26 from 11 AM to 1:10 PM at Yonsei University Science Building Room 111 with Yonsei University College of Science
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) will hold the ‘2022 Gwanak Smart City Festival’ for two days from the 18th to the 19th.
The ‘2022 Smart City Festival,’ held for the first time this year, provides an opportunity to directly experience future technologies of the 4th Industrial Revolution and creates a forum to explore current issues and solutions for the Gwanak-gu smart city project utilizing advanced ICT technology.
On the 18th at 10 a.m., a forum titled ‘The 4th Industrial Revolution Changing the Future’ will be held in the large auditorium on the 8th floor of Gwanak-gu Office. The forum will begin with a hologram performance, a new ICT technology, followed by keynote presentations including ‘The 4th Industrial Revolution and Smart City’ by Kim Ik-hoe, Director of the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements, and ‘Mobility Innovation and the Future of Urban Landscape’ by Professor Seo Deok-su of Handong University.
After the keynote presentations, there will be a panel discussion with experts in smart fields such as IoT, AI, and big data to discuss various policy measures for realizing a sustainable Gwanak-gu smart city.
The Gwanak Smart City Forum is open to any residents interested in startup companies and smart cities. It will be held offline and simultaneously broadcast live on the ‘Gwanak-gu Live’ YouTube channel.
On the 19th, booths where visitors can experience future technologies of the 4th Industrial Revolution will be operated at the Gwanak-gu Office plaza. Visitors can enjoy various and exciting future technology experiences such as ▲robot dance performances ▲robot survival experience (Robot Master AI) ▲drone soccer ▲VR (HTC VIVE) experience ▲VR ski simulator attraction experience ▲robot experience, among others.
Additionally, a ‘365 Smart Gwanak Promotion’ booth will be set up to provide opportunities for everyone to participate and enjoy Gwanak-gu smart city services anytime and anywhere, actively promoting through photo events and more.
Meanwhile, in line with the characteristics of a high proportion of single-person households and vulnerable groups, the district is promoting various smart city projects using advanced ICT technologies in areas closely related to residents’ lives such as safety and welfare, including ‘autonomous patrol robots’ and ‘smart senior centers.’
Furthermore, next year, the district plans to expand infrastructure for smart city services such as broadband self-communication network advancement projects, public WiFi, and Internet of Things (IoT), which are core facilities to strengthen urban competitiveness, thereby securing competitiveness as a smart city.
A district official said, “We hope this event will be an opportunity to experience and understand rapidly changing future technologies and contribute to sustainable smart city development,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to create an open city where residents can easily access and utilize desired data anytime and anywhere.”
Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Seong-heon), together with Yonsei University College of Science, will hold a ‘Science Concert for Youth and the General Public’ on the 26th from 11 a.m. to 1:10 p.m. in Room 111 of the Yonsei University Science Building.
Elementary school students in grades 5 and 6, youth interested in science, as well as parents, can attend the lectures together.
On this day, Professor Kim Tae-gyu of Yonsei University’s Department of Chemistry will explain the generation of fast X-ray pulses and filming of molecular movements under the title ‘Moving Molecules, Making a Movie.’
Following this, Professor Song Ha-jun of Yonsei University’s Department of Atmospheric Sciences will lecture on the topic ‘Robots Living in the Ocean,’ covering the types, appearances, and principles of robots that detect ocean conditions.
