Under the theme of ‘Tourism Normalization and Digital Tourism,’ approximately 200 participants attended on-site, including Busan City as the chair city, co-chair cities Jeonju and Mungyeong, executive committee cities, and member cities from Indonesia.
The general assembly consisted of an opening ceremony, plenary sessions, session meetings, executive committee meetings, regional meetings, tourism promotion exhibitions, and tourism resource inspections. Given that tourism normalization is an urgent task after COVID-19, the event focused on ▲sharing policies for revitalizing tourism post-COVID-19 ▲presenting and discussing digital promotion cases to explore ways to normalize the tourism industry in the Asia-Pacific region.
Marking its 20th anniversary, TPO reviewed the exchanges and achievements in the tourism industry among major cities in the Asia-Pacific region and announced its 2050 vision. In particular, Busan, the TPO chair city, actively promoted the 2030 World Expo bid to members, spreading enthusiasm for hosting the event in Busan.
Prior to the general assembly, on the 8th, the TPO Secretariat visited the North Sumatra provincial government to discuss tourism promotion after COVID-19 and explained Busan City’s efforts to host the 2030 World Expo.
TPO, with members from 137 cities including Korea, Japan, China, and Malaysia, as well as 56 private members, is actively engaged.
