US Democrats Secure 50 Seats with Nevada Victory... Likely Majority in Senate
Edison Research Prediction
[Asia Economy Reporter Myung-hwan Lee] Foreign media outlets have unanimously reported that the U.S. Democratic Party is expected to maintain its majority status in the Senate in this midterm election.
Major foreign news agencies, including AFP, cited Edison Research on the 12th (local time), predicting that Democratic Senator Catherine Cortez Masto of Nevada would win against Republican candidate Adam Laxalt. Nevada remained a battleground state in the U.S. midterm election held on the 8th (local time).
The previous day, Democratic Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona secured his election victory by defeating Republican Blake Masters, resulting in a tie in the Senate seats with Democrats holding 49 seats and Republicans 49 seats.
If Senator Masto ultimately wins in Nevada, the Senate seat count will be 50 for the Democrats and 49 for the Republicans.

The last remaining state, Georgia, did not produce a majority winner, so a runoff election is scheduled for the 6th of next month. Regardless of this result, the Democrats will be able to maintain their majority status in the Senate. Even if the Republican candidate wins in Georgia, resulting in a tie in seats, Vice President Kamala Harris, as the ex officio President of the Senate, can cast the deciding vote.
