[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seohee] The PGA Tour Cadence Bank Houston Open (total prize money $8.4 million) faced disruptions for two consecutive days due to severe weather, with Kim Siwoo finishing tied for 25th place.
Kim Siwoo (27) shot a 1-under-par 69, including three birdies and two bogeys, in the second round of the PGA Tour Cadence Bank Houston Open held on June 11 (local time) at Memorial Park Golf Course (par 70) in Houston, Texas. With a total score of 3-under-par 106, he tied for 25th place alongside Martin Laird (UK), Brendan Steele, Scott Piercy, and Justin Suh (all from the US). He trails the leader Tony Finau (US) by 10 strokes.
Kim Siwoo and Kim Seonghyeon (24), who had the best scores among Korean players the previous day, both dropped two places on this day. Starting at the 10th hole, Kim Siwoo made a bogey at the 11th hole (par 3) but recovered with birdies at the 15th and 17th holes on the front nine, attempting a comeback in the back nine. However, he finished the round with one birdie and one bogey, unable to reduce his score further.
Tony Finau demonstrated remarkable resilience by recording 10 birdies and 2 bogeys, securing the top spot on the leaderboard with a daily best score.
Meanwhile, the round was suspended and later resumed due to severe weather. As a result, more than 60 players, including An Byeonghun and Kim Seonghyeon, were unable to complete the second round. An Byeonghun and Kim Seonghyeon, who missed eight holes, will complete their remaining second-round holes on June 12 (local time). On the first day, 13 players were unable to finish one or two holes due to sunset.
