Democratic Party Gwangju Branch "Presidential Aircraft MBC Boarding Ban Clear Media Suppression"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Democratic Party of Korea's Gwangju Metropolitan City Chapter continued sharp criticism regarding MBC's ban on boarding the presidential aircraft ahead of President Yoon Seok-yeol's Southeast Asia tour.
On the 10th, the Democratic Party's Gwangju Chapter stated in a press release, "The Yoon Seok-yeol administration is a 'regime specialized in oppression,'" calling it a "clear media crackdown."
The chapter said, "This is an anti-democratic decision that seriously infringes on freedom of the press," and added, "The Yoon administration, which zealously oppressed the Democratic Party headquarters as the main opposition party, is now 'actively' engaging in media suppression."
They continued, "The presidential aircraft is a 'public asset' operated with taxpayers' money and should not have access restricted according to someone's 'preferences.'"
