[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] On the 9th, the Chinese government stated regarding US-China relations after the US midterm elections, "We hope to find the right path for mutual coexistence in a new era."
Zhao Lijian, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said at the regular briefing that "The midterm elections are an internal matter of the United States, and the election results are decided by American voters through voting, so China will not comment," but added, "China's position on US-China relations is consistent and clear. We believe that a healthy and stable US-China relationship aligns with the fundamental interests of both peoples and the universal expectations of the international community."
He continued, "We hope the United States will move forward facing China, based on the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, cooperation, and win-win, to find the right path for coexistence in the new era of US-China relations, and to promote the bilateral relationship back onto a sound and stable development track."
When asked to comment on the US White House's decision to maintain the ban on American investment in Chinese companies linked to the Chinese military, Zhao said, "China firmly opposes the complete disregard of facts and the serious damage to normal market rules and order, which harms the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies as well as the interests of global investors including American investors."
