Gwangju Seo-gu Council Passes Resolution Opposing the Abolition of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family
Proposed by Assemblyman Baek Jong-han
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] The Seo-gu Council of Gwangju Metropolitan City (Chairperson Ko Kyung-ae) announced on the 9th that it unanimously passed the "Resolution Opposing the Abolition of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family for the Realization of a Gender-Equal Society," which was proposed by Representative Baek Jong-han.
Representative Baek stated, "Recently, not only has the danger of violent crimes and digital sex crimes against women, including the Sindang Station murder case, been increasing day by day, but discrimination and exclusion against female workers in hiring, promotion, and wages are still occurring," adding, "We oppose the abolition of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, which promotes gender inequality and hinders social integration."
He also said, "We must face the fact that modern social issues such as low birth rates and population cliff cannot be solved without eliminating structural gender discrimination," and added, "The government should prepare practical gender equality measures and policies to eliminate discrimination against various socially disadvantaged groups."
