Justice Party Disciplines Two Perpetrators in Kang Minjin Sexual Violence Case
Kang Min-jin "Hard to Accept Minor Disciplinary Action"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] The Justice Party announced on the 7th that it has disciplined the perpetrators within the party who were accused of sexual violence by former Youth Justice Party leader Kang Min-jin.
Former leader Kang revealed in May that she had been a victim of sexual violence twice, once in November last year and again this year. In November last year, she experienced unpleasant physical contact from a metropolitan city party committee chairman, and in March this year, she claimed to have been sexually assaulted by a Youth Justice Party official. The Justice Party issued a warning and ordered more than six months of gender equality education to Mr. A, the metropolitan city party committee chairman, and decided to expel the Youth Justice Party official identified as the perpetrator.
Justice Party leader Lee Jeong-mi stated in a press release that "At the time, the leadership should have recognized the incident and resolved it through official procedures, but in the process of trying to handle it internally, the victim's intentions were not sufficiently reflected," adding, "The party's statement was also not careful enough. As a result, the victim suffered secondary harm." Earlier, when Kang’s allegations surfaced, the Justice Party said, "We will verify the facts and take strict disciplinary action according to party regulations regarding the sexual violence incident involving a party official," but drew a line by stating that the incident that occurred in November last year was not sexual violence.

The Justice Party stated that in the future, if sexual violence incidents occur within the party, they will be resolved through official procedures based on the principle of protecting the victims. On the same day, Kang Min-jin pointed out on Facebook, "While the November incident is recognized as sexual violence, it is difficult to accept the light disciplinary action that does not impose any status-related measures on the perpetrator," adding, "The perpetrator faces no restrictions in holding party positions and can immediately run for public office."
