Leading the Prevention of Neighbor Hunger Based on POSCO and Community Win-Win Cooperation
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] POSCO delivered the ‘Modu愛 Meal Truck’ to Gwangyang City and Jungma Senior Welfare Center on the 4th, which was created to support the resolution of meal shortages among vulnerable groups in the region.
The delivery ceremony was attended by Jeong In-hwa, Mayor of Gwangyang, Yang Won-jun, Vice President of POSCO, Lee Baek-gu, Chairman of Gwangyang Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Jeong Byeong-gwan, Director of Jungma Senior Welfare Center.
The ‘Modu愛 Meal Truck’ is a specially designed 3.5-ton truck equipped with cooking and water supply facilities, capable of preparing meals and serving about 300 portions.
This project was proposed by the Gwangyang Chamber of Commerce and Industry to address the local community’s meal shortage issues ahead of the 1st Gwangyang Entrepreneurs’ Day on November 4th. POSCO provides the vehicle, while the Gwangyang Chamber of Commerce and other organizations support the operating expenses.
On this day, Yang Won-jun, Vice President of POSCO, said, “We are pleased that POSCO is participating in solving social issues in the region,” and added, “We hope the win-win cooperative relationship between Gwangyang City, POSCO, and related organizations will become even stronger.”
The Jungma Senior Welfare Center will be responsible for operating the ‘Modu愛 Meal Truck,’ providing warm and hygienic meals to socially marginalized seniors in the community on a regular basis, and conducting on-site meal support activities tailored to emergency situations during disasters.
Meanwhile, POSCO has been continuously seeking and practicing its corporate role in coexistence with the local community, such as signing a business agreement with Gwangyang City on October 6th to promote Gwangyang Gubongsan as a tourist attraction.
