[Asia Economy Reporter Byeon Seon-jin] The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced that as of midnight on the 4th, 43,449 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed, bringing the total cumulative number of confirmed cases to 25,760,701. The number of new cases decreased by 3,447 compared to the previous day (46,896). However, it increased by 7,525 compared to a week ago on the 28th (35,924) and by 18,698 compared to two weeks ago on the 21st (24,751).
Regarding the recent COVID-19 trend, Prime Minister Han Deok-su said in his opening remarks at the Itaewon accident and COVID-19 Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters meeting held at the Government Seoul Office in the morning, “There is a forecast that daily confirmed cases could surge again up to 200,000 due to the winter resurgence of COVID-19,” urging people to get vaccinated.
