Foreign Embassies in Korea Visit Suncheon, Raising Expectations for the 2023 Suncheonman International Garden Expo

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] The Suncheonman International Garden Expo Organizing Committee (Chairman Noh Gwan-gyu) announced on the 3rd that it held a briefing session on the 2023 Suncheonman International Garden Expo (hereinafter ‘2023 Garden Expo’) for foreign embassies in Korea to raise international interest in the 2023 Suncheonman International Garden Expo.

The event was held to promote the 2023 Garden Expo, which will be held next year, overseas and to attract National Day events that showcase the cultures of various countries. Eleven representatives from six foreign embassies in Korea, including the Czech Republic and Colombia, visited the Suncheonman National Garden.

Noh Gwan-gyu, Chairman of the Organizing Committee (Mayor of Suncheon), promoted the 2023 Garden Expo to the foreign diplomatic envoys and introduced Suncheon’s conservation policies for Suncheonman and the city’s development through gardens, requesting much interest and cooperation from the countries.

After the briefing session, the schedule included a tour of the Suncheonman National Garden and Suncheonman Wetland.

Francisco Alberto Gonzalez, Deputy Ambassador of Colombia, said, “It was a special experience to fully feel the charm of the Suncheonman National Garden and Suncheonman.” He added, “I look forward to the even newer Garden Expo next year and will actively promote it in my country.”

An official from the Organizing Committee said, “Starting with today’s briefing session, we are preparing various programs to promote the 2023 Garden Expo worldwide. We will expand the promotional network for the 2023 Garden Expo overseas.”
