On the 3rd, the Education Committee of the Jeonnam Provincial Council declared the suspension of the administrative audit of the direct-affiliated institutions of the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education, citing insufficient preparation and poor responses during the audit.
During the administrative audit that day, Assemblyman Choi Mu-kyung questioned three heads of direct-affiliated institutions about the contract methods based on the progress of major projects, but they failed to provide proper answers.
Assemblyman Choi Mu-kyung pointed out, "The heads of direct-affiliated institutions should be experts in accounting matters such as budgets and contract methods, but they are unable to even grasp the important details of the materials submitted for the administrative audit."
In response, the Education Committee members declared that the audit would be suspended until the heads of the 12 direct-affiliated institutions familiarize themselves with the administrative audit materials, and then went into recess.
Chairman of the Education Committee Jo Ok-hyun stated, "The three heads of direct-affiliated institutions showed negligence by participating in the administrative audit without fully understanding the materials they submitted to us," and added, "Since other heads seem to be in the same situation, we judged that it would be difficult to proceed further and thus suspended the administrative audit."
He continued, "In the past, administrative audits of direct-affiliated institutions were lax, resulting in very poor preparation by the staff," and added, "We plan to have only the heads of institutions participate as witnesses on the 10th."
