'Election Law Violation Charges' Kang Jin-won, Former Gangjin County Governor, Not Prosecuted
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Kang Jin-won, former mayor of Gangjin County, Jeollanam-do, who was accused of violating the Public Official Election Act, has been dismissed without indictment.
According to the legal community on the 3rd, the Jangheung Branch of the Gwangju District Prosecutors' Office recently decided to clear Mayor Kang of charges due to insufficient evidence.
The prosecution reportedly judged that there was no evidence that Mayor Kang's companion suddenly took out cash and conspired in advance to make a donation.
Mayor Kang was accused of handing money to voters through his party at a restaurant in Gangjin County, Jeollanam-do, on April 25.
At the time, Mr. A, who came with Mayor Kang, was investigated to have taken cash out of his wallet and handed it to attendees of the meal.
