On the 3rd, Park Hong-geun, floor leader of the Democratic Party, said at the Democratic Party policy coordination meeting held at the National Assembly, "North Korea's provocations must stop," and criticized, "This is the first time a missile has fallen beyond the Northern Limit Line (NLL), an reckless act that drives the situation on the Korean Peninsula to an extreme path, and it cannot be tolerated for any reason."
He continued, "Moreover, the armed provocation committed while the entire nation is suffering from a major disaster in South Korea, our fellow countrymen, is a heinous act that abandons both humanity and national love," and added, "We strongly condemn it in the name of global citizens and the Korean people."
Criticism also followed regarding the South Korean government's response to North Korea's missile.
Floor leader Park said, "An air raid alert was issued throughout Ulleung County, but once again, the state that should protect the people was nowhere to be seen," and pointed out, "While county office officials evacuated underground during the air raid alert, the residents did not even understand the situation."
He said, "Only after about 20 minutes was a single text message sent, and most residents were in a panic not knowing where to evacuate," adding, "The incompetence and irresponsibility of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration are repeatedly putting the lives and safety of the people at risk." Floor leader Park emphasized, "The government must thoroughly reexamine its security response and crisis management system to prevent such confusion from recurring."
Kim Byung-joo, the Democratic Party's defense committee secretary, mentioned North Korea's successive provocations, saying, "This is a clear violation of the UN Security Council resolutions, and we strongly condemn North Korea's repeated missile provocations."
Kim said, "North Korea gains nothing from military provocations," and "We strongly demand an immediate halt to military provocations and a return to the dialogue table to ease tensions and establish peace." He added, "As inter-Korean tensions escalate and the dark clouds of war loom, efforts should be made to promote inter-Korean dialogue for denuclearization," and "Efforts should be made to open channels for dialogue between the two Koreas."

He also urged strengthening national defense. He said, "We demand the government pay attention to strengthening the three-axis system and responding to nuclear missiles," and criticized, "Although the government announced strengthening the three-axis system in its national agenda, it did not reflect the budget for new projects related to the three-axis system." He added, "It should not be just words about the three-axis system, but actual budget approval and policy decisions," and said, "The Democratic Party will also actively work to secure related budgets."
