[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] Park Chan-dae, Supreme Council Member of the Democratic Party of Korea and head of the Itaewon Disaster Countermeasures Headquarters, said on the 3rd that "Although this (Itaewon disaster) has further provoked public anger, considering economic and safety issues, I think the cabinet is generally unstable" regarding the Yoon Seok-yeol administration.
Park appeared on MBC Radio's 'Kim Jong-bae's Focus' on the same day and responded to the host's question about whether additional responsible figures besides Police Chief Yoon Hee-geun and Minister of the Interior and Safety Lee Sang-min should face accountability.
Regarding the emerging police accountability issue related to the inadequate response to 112 emergency calls, including the suspension of Yim Im-jae, former Yongsan Police Station Chief, Park pointed out, "Trying to gloss over the incident by dismissing just a few top police officials obscures the essence of this case." He added, addressing Minister Lee and Police Chief Yoon, "What we demand is not just dismissal but removal from office," and warned, "If the President refuses to accept this, he will face public resistance and anger."
He also commented on the controversy over Prime Minister Han Duck-soo's joke during a foreign press conference, stating, "The Prime Minister's inappropriate remarks ultimately show a complete lack of seriousness regarding citizens' safety and lives."

Park emphasized the need for a 'state audit' at the National Assembly level. He said, "More drastic measures are needed for a thorough investigation. If necessary, a state audit and even more efforts must be made," adding, "The Democratic Party will proceed with the state audit application." He continued, "Since the ruling party has also clearly stated its intention to uncover the truth, they will not be able to refuse this."
