Main Figure in the Opening of the Traditional Performing Arts Promotion Foundation 'Changjak Maru'
On the 2nd, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism appointed Jeong Seongsuk, an adjunct professor at Dongguk University Graduate School of Culture and Arts, as the CEO of the National Jeongdong Theater. The term is three years, until November 2025.
Newly appointed CEO Jeong is a holder of the national intangible cultural heritage Seungmu and Salpuri dance. She graduated from Ewha Womans University with a degree in dance, earned a master's degree in cultural heritage studies from Dongguk University Graduate School of Culture and Arts, and a doctorate in dance from Sungkyunkwan University Graduate School. She worked as an artistic director at the Gangnam Cultural Foundation and served as the chairman of the Traditional Performing Arts Promotion Foundation from 2018 until last year. Currently, she serves as a member of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Committees for the Cultural Heritage Administration, Seoul City, Gangwon Province, Chungcheongnam-do, and Chungcheongbuk-do.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism stated, "During her tenure as chairman of the Traditional Performing Arts Promotion Foundation, she opened 'Changjak Maru,' a creative hub for traditional arts, supporting the creation and production of emerging traditional artists, and established 'Gwangmudae,' a performance hall within it, to support regular performances." They added, "Based on her deep understanding, expertise, and experience in traditional arts, we expect her to plan distinctive performances unique to Jeongdong Theater and contribute to making Korea a 'world-class cultural attraction country.'"
