Ourhome announced on the 2nd that it signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for low-carbon onion contract farming with Hamyang County and Hamyang County Nonghyup Cooperative Joint Business Corporation on the 1st.
As part of its ESG management, Ourhome signed this MOU to secure eco-friendly agricultural products and promote coexistence with local farms. The parties plan to collaborate on local agricultural production and stable supply, eco-friendly crop cultivation, and quality control.
The contract farming volume amounts to approximately 1,000 tons of onions cultivated over 50,000 pyeong (approximately 165,289 square meters) of farmland. The crops are grown using biodegradable eco-friendly mulching film, which covers the surface of the cultivated land. This eliminates the need to separately remove plastic film, reducing plastic waste and effectively lowering labor and production costs.
Additionally, Ourhome will establish a business model that actively utilizes the contracted low-carbon onions. It plans to prioritize purchasing agricultural products from Hamyang County, provide sales channels, and support technical consulting and product development. The purchased low-carbon onions will be used in Ourhome’s nationwide employee cafeterias and food service establishments.
