Goheung-gun Secures 10 Billion KRW National Funding for "Clean National Fishing Port Pilot Project"
Confirmed as the project site for 'Nokdonghang,' to be developed into a premium fishing port
[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shim Jeong-woo] Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gong Young-min) announced on the 1st that Nokdong Port has been selected as the pilot site for the CLEAN National Fishing Port pilot project promoted by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, securing 10 billion KRW in national funding.
The CLEAN National Fishing Port project is aimed at organizing abandoned (waste) fishing gear and equipment within the fishing port, improving disorderly and scattered facilities, and renovating the port into a pleasant space with a lively landscape.
The county plans to promote the CLEAN National Fishing Port pilot project over three years from 2023 to 2025, starting basic and detailed design from next year, and will form a consultative body including related experts during the design phase to supplement the project plan.
The main projects include ▲a fishing gear storage warehouse for fishermen’s welfare ▲a rest area for workers ▲marine waste treatment facilities ▲installation of shade structures at the fishermen’s joint workspace in Nokdong Port, as well as ▲restroom refurbishment ▲Rainbow Plaza creation ▲Ocean Walk ▲Dream Sky for revitalizing tourism at Nokdong Port.
A county official stated, “Through this project, it is expected that the living conditions will improve by creating a clean and pleasant fishing village environment, and residents’ income will increase due to the activation of fishing village tourism.” He added, “We plan to develop Nokdong Port into a premium fishing port of Goheung-gun, making it more convenient for local residents and visitors to use the port.”
