Samsung Electronics Selects Samjong KPMG as New Auditor
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] Samsung Electronics has selected Samjong KPMG as its new external auditor.
According to business and accounting industry sources on the 31st, Samsung Electronics' Audit Committee has selected Samjong KPMG as the 'External Auditor for the 2023 Fiscal Year' and recently notified them. This is the first time Samjong KPMG has been chosen as Samsung Electronics' auditor.
Samsung introduced the 'Periodic Auditor Designation System' in 2019 in accordance with the revised External Audit Act. Accordingly, from 2020, Samsung was audited by Deloitte Anjin for three years. The Periodic Auditor Designation System requires companies that appoint an auditor freely for six consecutive years to have an auditor designated by the government for the next three years. Until then, Samsung Electronics had entrusted auditing to Samil PwC for over 40 years.

Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that Samjong also secured the audit contract for SK Hynix for the 2023 fiscal year, in addition to Samsung Electronics.
