Busan Metropolitan Office of Education Revises 99 Unnecessary Educational Policy Projects
45 Cases of Abolition, 12 Cases of Reduction, 11 Cases of Transfer, 31 Cases of Integration
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education has streamlined 99 unnecessary projects that placed burdens on schools.
This streamlining was carried out to reduce school workload and actively promote the education policies of the 5th elected superintendent by removing unnecessary projects and enhancing the efficiency of policy implementation.
The Office of Education targeted 561 projects that had been pursued so far, aiming for efficient work execution, slimming down school tasks, and innovative organizational restructuring. Since last September, through four rounds of education policy project streamlining task force meetings and collecting school feedback, the project streamlining has been promoted.
As a result, 45 projects (8%) such as the ‘Minju Citizen Growth School’ were abolished, and 12 projects (2.1%) including ‘Operation of Innovation Graduate School’ were reduced.
Additionally, 11 projects (2%) such as ‘Science Teacher Mentoring Training’ were transferred, and 31 projects (5.5%) were integrated, including the consolidation of four projects related to the Respect Campaign into the ‘Character Education Campaign.’
Through this, a total of 99 projects were extensively streamlined, reaching a streamlining rate of 17.6%.
This rate is 6.2% higher than last year’s education policy project streamlining result (streamlining rate of 11.4%), achieving the outcome of abolishing or reducing projects with low effectiveness.
The Office of Education plans to actively reflect the results of this education policy project streamlining in the implementation of the 2023 major work plan.
