'Lore Olympus' Sweeps All Major Awards in the US Comic Industry
Eisner Award, Harvey Award, and Ringo Award Wins
The webtoon "Lore Olympus," discovered by Naver Webtoon, swept all major awards in the American comic industry.
"Lore Olympus" was named the best webtoon at the Ringo Awards ceremony held on the 30th (local time) at the Baltimore Convention Center in Maryland, USA. It outshone other nominees such as "Big Edel Energy," "Batman: Wayne Family Adventure," "I Escaped a Chinese Prison Camp," and "Let's Play."
As a result, "Lore Olympus" has secured all major American comic awards, including the Eisner Awards in July, the Harvey Awards earlier this month, and now the Ringo Awards. The Ringo Awards were established to honor comic artist Mike Wieringo, who drew Marvel Comics' Spider-Man and Fantastic Four. The awards have been presented since 2017.
"Lore Olympus" is a reinterpretation of the love story between Hades and Persephone from Greek and Roman mythology. It skillfully blends romance with themes of growth and healing, gaining prominence on Naver Webtoon's amateur platform "Canvas." Naver Webtoon began serializing it in 2018 through its English service "Webtoon." The cumulative view count has reached 1.2 billion views.
