[Itaewon Tragedy] Seoul Metropolitan Council "Will Do Our Best to Manage the Aftermath"
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] The Seoul Metropolitan Council (Chairman Kim Hyun-gi) announced a statement on the 30th regarding the Itaewon disaster, stating that it will do its utmost to manage the aftermath of the accident together with the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
On the same day, the council issued a statement in the name of the chairman and all members, saying, "We pray for the souls of the citizens who lost their lives in the accident that occurred on the night of the 29th in Itaewon, Seoul. We also express our deepest condolences to the bereaved families who are in deep sorrow. We hope for the speedy recovery of those injured."
It added, "Protecting the lives of Seoul citizens is the most important duty of the Seoul Metropolitan Council," and "The Seoul Metropolitan Council will prioritize doing its utmost to manage the aftermath of the accident. Furthermore, we will closely cooperate with the Seoul Metropolitan Government to ensure appropriate support is provided for the victims and those suffering."
Additionally, it stated that a countermeasure committee will be formed centered on the Council’s Urban Safety and Construction Committee to do its best in investigating the cause of the accident.

The council also pledged to prepare measures to prevent the recurrence of the same accident, carefully inspect and improve safety hazards in daily life, and once again expressed condolences for the citizens who lost their lives in this unfortunate accident.
