[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Hyun-ji] On the 28th, ahead of the review of next year's budget bill, the People Power Party selected members for the subcommittee of the National Assembly's Special Committee on Budget and Accounts.
The list includes Lee Cheol-gyu (Gangwon Donghae·Taebaek·Samcheok·Jeongseon), the ruling party's floor whip on the Budget and Accounts Committee, as well as second-term members Lee Yong-ho (Jeonbuk Namwon·Imsil·Sunchang) and Jeong Jeom-sik (Gyeongnam Tongyeong·Goseong), and first-term members Jang Dong-hyeok (Chungnam Boryeong·Seocheon), Jeong Hee-yong (Gyeongbuk Goryeong·Seongju·Chilgok), and Bae Hyun-jin (Seoul Songpa-eul).
Kim Mi-ae, the floor spokesperson, explained, "Considering experience and region, as the ruling party, we selected subcommittee members based primarily on expertise in budget analysis and review, to support the prompt implementation of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration's national agenda and to serve as a catalyst for restoring people's livelihoods amid the complex economic crisis during the review of next year's government budget."
The Budget and Accounts Committee plans to hold the 1st and 2nd plenary sessions on December 7-8 to conduct comprehensive policy questioning on next year's budget bill and fund operation plans. Subsequently, reviews of non-economic ministries will take place on December 9-10, followed by economic ministries on December 14-15. After subcommittee review on the 17th, the plenary session approval is expected on the 30th (subject to subcommittee agreement).
