Thanks to the mail carrier, the lost international mail was recovered
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Last month, Seol Chun-hwan, a postal worker at Gwangju Gwangsan Post Office, became a hot topic after a story was posted on the National Petition Board about how he recovered an international mail item lost due to misdelivery.
The poster had ordered expensive jewelry from a US shopping mall, but after two months it had not arrived, leading them to wonder, "What went wrong?"
By checking the tracking number sent by the seller, they discovered the cause. As expected, the mail had been delivered to a different region.
Unable to retrieve it themselves, they pondered for several days. Hoping for a solution, they called postal worker Seol, whose name was on the tracking number, to ask for help.
"Could you please check if the mail is in the mailbox at the incorrectly delivered address?"
Seol willingly agreed to look into it and even used his own money to send the mail, which was being held at the misdelivered address, all the way to his home in Gyeonggi-do.
The poster said, “I had considered giving up on the mail that was wrongly sent overseas, but thanks to the postal worker’s proactive handling, I recovered the lost item. I was both incredulous and deeply grateful, and I felt great trust and emotion toward the post office’s systematic delivery service.”
