At the opening ceremony of the 'Korea Agriculture Expo' held at Suwon Convention Center on the 27th, Mayor Lee emphasized, "King Jeongjo created reservoirs such as Manseokgeo and Chukmanje in Suwon, opening a chapter in agricultural history, and since then, Suwon has established itself as a center for agricultural research."
He added, "With Suwon's elevation to city status in 1949, the predecessor of the Rural Development Administration, the Agricultural Technology Institute, was established in Suwon," and "Suwon has led South Korea's 'agricultural innovation' ever since."
This event is hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, organized by the Korea Agency of Education, Promotion and Information Service in Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and strategically attracted by Suwon City and Suwon Convention Center.
The expo is a nationwide agricultural festival featuring themed pavilions showcasing the value, charm, innovation, and vision of agriculture, along with various experiential content.

Meanwhile, Suwon is a city with historical and symbolic significance in the revolution of agricultural technology. During King Jeongjo's reign, reservoirs were constructed and vast farmland was developed, playing a pivotal role in the agricultural revolution of the late Joseon period. The Rural Development Administration and Seoul National University College of Agriculture, both established in Suwon, have driven the growth of South Korean agriculture.
