Kim Dong-yeon "Strict Action on Public Office Corruption"... Gyeonggi-do Conducts Integrity Pledge and Training
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province conducted a pledge for integrity practice to prevent conflicts of interest among high-ranking public officials and provided integrity education.
On the 26th, Gyeonggi Province announced on the 27th that it held an integrity practice pledge and education at the Gwanggyo New Government Building in Suwon for high-ranking public officials of grade 3 or higher and heads of affiliated institutions to enhance their commitment to performing duties with integrity and practicing anti-corruption integrity.
Before the education session, Gyeonggi Governor Kim Dong-yeon emphasized at the open provincial government meeting, "While managing Gyeonggi Province, we often talk about and follow the spirit of practical learning and empirical investigation. To summarize the philosophy of Dasan, it is Gong (公) and Ryeom (廉), where Ryeom means integrity. Integrity is a natural duty as a public official."
He continued, "Regarding acts that are not honest, dishonest, or corrupt, although it depends on the case, we will handle them very strictly with a one-strike-out policy. I hope today's integrity education serves as an opportunity for the executives, including myself, to reaffirm our resolve. I ask that senior public officials take the lead."
At the pledge ceremony that day, Governor Kim Dong-yeon and high-ranking public officials, along with heads of public institutions under the province, signed the "Conflict of Interest Prevention Integrity Pledge," which includes key points such as ▲ protection of public interest ▲ prohibition of pursuit of private interests ▲ compliance with obligations to prevent conflicts of interest, pledging to practice integrity.
Following this, Lee Young-taek, Director of the Code of Conduct at the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, conducted integrity education under the theme "Understanding the Anti-Corruption Integrity and Conflict of Interest Prevention Act." The education focused on the Conflict of Interest Prevention Act, which was enacted in May of this year.
The province plans to continue efforts to raise the level of integrity among public officials through ongoing education to realize a trustworthy and integrity-driven Gyeonggi Province for its residents.
