Competition Rate for Busan National, Public, and Private Secondary Teacher Appointment Exam at 8.6 to 1
Recruiting 474 People, 4,055 Applicants; Written Exam on November 26
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] The application results for the ‘2023 Academic Year National, Public, and Private Middle School Teacher Candidate Selection Competitive Examination’ showed an average competition rate of 8.6 to 1, with 4,055 applicants for 474 positions.
This competition rate is slightly higher than last year’s, which had 3,785 applicants for 464 positions, resulting in a competition rate of 8.2 to 1.
Looking at this year’s application details, for national middle school teachers, 18 applicants applied for 4 general recruitment positions, showing a competition rate of 4.5 to 1.
For public middle school teachers, 3,153 applicants applied for 299 general recruitment positions, showing a high competition rate of 10.5 to 1, and for public special middle school teachers, 66 applicants applied for 6 general recruitment positions, showing a competition rate of 11 to 1.
For the 25 positions reserved for persons with disabilities, 17 applicants applied, showing a competition rate of 0.7 to 1.
Also, for private middle school teachers commissioned by the city education office, 801 applicants applied for 140 positions, showing a competition rate of 5.7 to 1.
By subject, the librarian position had the highest competition rate with 31 applicants for 1 position, a 31 to 1 ratio, while technology had the lowest with 13 applicants for 9 positions, a 1.4 to 1 ratio.
Among applicants for public school teachers (first choice), 1,455 applicants applied simultaneously for public and private schools as their second choice, a decrease of 102 from last year’s 1,557.
By age group, those in their 20s were the largest at 2,141 (52.8%), followed by those in their 30s at 1,329 (32.8%), 40s at 530 (13.1%), and 50s and older at 55 (1.3%).
By gender, females numbered 2,673 (65.9%), significantly more than males at 1,382 (34.1%).
The oldest applicant was a 58-year-old female.
The first phase of the appointment exam will be announced on the city education office website at 10 a.m. on November 18. Examinees must enter the exam room at the designated test site by 8:30 a.m. on November 26 with their admission ticket and ID.
