The research team, consisting of Professor Seo and seven members including Seong-jae Kim (2nd year PhD student) from the Department of Intelligent Robotics Engineering, recently received the Best Paper Award at the annual general meeting of the Korean Society for Precision Engineering held at Daegu EXCO for their paper titled "A Study on Estimating the Location of Survivor Sound Sources for Robots Searching Survivors in Narrow Spaces."
Published in Volume 39, Issue 7 of the Journal of the Korean Society for Precision Engineering, this paper was selected as the most outstanding research among the papers published in the society's journal throughout the year, earning the honor of the award.
This paper focuses on research estimating the location of sound sources in front using a small multi-sensor module.
Professor Seo's research team expects that by equipping survivor search robots with sound source location estimation devices to perform more active search missions, these robots can be utilized as a means of survivor search in environments with low visibility where search operations through cameras are difficult.
