Policies Desired by Youth for Damyang-gun Discovered Through Proposal Contest
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 26th that it is discovering policies that youth want for the county by November 18th through the ‘Youth Policy Proposal Contest’ under the slogan ‘A New Damyang, Youth Discuss.’
Hosted by Damyang-gun and organized by the Damyang Youth Training Center, the ‘Youth Policy Proposal Contest’ was prepared to provide youth with opportunities to participate in policy by proposing and sharing policies and solutions to local community issues from the perspective of youth.
The contest theme is ‘Local Autonomy Proposals Desired by Future Generation Youth,’ and participants can choose one of five topics: ▲Youth Participation and Rights Promotion ▲Activation of Youth-led Activities ▲Youth Independence and Protection Support ▲Local Government Policies Related to Youth ▲Creation of Youth-friendly Environments, or propose policies necessary for youth beyond the suggested topics.
Eligible participants are youth aged 9 to 24 who reside in Damyang-gun or attend school in Damyang-gun. They can participate individually or in groups of 2 to 5 people by filling out an application form on the International Youth Education Foundation website and submitting it via email.
The proposed policies will undergo document screening to select finalists, and the final contest will be held on December 16th. Excellent proposals adopted through the final contest will be actively reflected in county administration after departmental review regarding feasibility and budget procurement.

County Governor Lee Byeongno said, “This contest will be an opportunity to hear youth voices and local community issues from the perspective of youth,” adding, “We hope many youth will show interest and participate in this contest, which will be the first step toward making Damyang-gun a ‘Youth Happy Damyang-gun.’”
