Daegu Catholic University Student Lee Jeong-su Wins Top Prize in Classical Category at Music Festival for People with Developmental Disabilities
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Koo Dae-sun] Lee Jung-soo, a senior in the Piano Department at Daegu Catholic University, recently won the Grand Prize in the classical category at the 6th National Music Festival for People with Developmental Disabilities (GMF), hosted by the Heart-Heart Foundation.
Lee Jung-soo earned this honor by performing the first movement of Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 "Fate." In addition to this competition, he has received awards such as the Encouragement Prize in the Western Instrument Ensemble category at the 15th National Disabled Youth Arts Festival and the Bronze Prize in the Special K Classical category at the 10th Korea Disabled Arts Competition.
Lee Jung-soo said, "This is the first time I have received the Grand Prize at a competition for students with disabilities, so I feel proud. After graduation, I want to actively engage in activities related to my major, piano, and music."

The GMF has been held annually since 2017 to foster social skills and develop talents of people with developmental disabilities through musical activities. It is supported by SK Innovation and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. This year, about 280 participants competed in the preliminary round.
