Fair Trade Commission: "Adjustment of Airline Mileage Validity During COVID-19 Specified in Terms and Conditions"
The Fair Trade Commission recommended in June that Korean Air and Asiana Airlines revise their terms and conditions regarding the validity period of airline mileage.
According to industry sources on the 25th, the Fair Trade Commission advised Korean Air and Asiana Airlines to amend their mileage-related terms by the end of August.
The recommendation aims to reflect the possibility of difficulties in using flights, as experienced during the spread of COVID-19, in the terms and conditions. Currently, it is stipulated that "mileage is valid for 10 years and will expire if not used within the period."

Korean Air and Asiana Airlines had extended the validity period of airline mileage on their own considering the COVID-19 situation. The Fair Trade Commission's recommendation is that related provisions should be explicitly stated in the terms to prepare for similar situations. It is reported that the airlines have not submitted plans to comply with the recommendation within the deadline.
