On the 24th, GS Engineering & Construction announced on the 25th that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with EcoPro HN at its headquarters in Jongno-gu, Seoul, for the "Development of Ammonia-based Low-carbon Hydrogen Production and Utilization Technology." About 10 people attended the event, including Kwon Hyuk-tae, head of GS Engineering & Construction's RIF Tech, and Kim Jong-seop, CEO of EcoPro HN.
Through this MOU, the two companies plan to jointly develop hydrogen production technology through high-efficiency ammonia decomposition. GS Engineering & Construction will develop reactors and processes for ammonia decomposition hydrogen production based on its existing plant design technology, while EcoPro HN will be responsible for developing high-efficiency integrated catalysts using its eco-friendly technology capabilities.
Ammonia is currently known as the most practical means for long-distance hydrogen transportation. The two companies aim to build and operate pilot facilities applying the developed technology by 2026. Through this technology development, they plan to develop production facilities capable of large-scale and high-efficiency ammonia-based hydrogen production.
GS Engineering & Construction expanded its existing research organization to RIF Tech this year and is actively conducting research activities to secure future core technologies. EcoPro HN is an eco-friendly total solution company specializing in greenhouse gas reduction solutions and cleanroom chemical filters.
