Kookdo Chemical has established a solid reputation as a global leading advanced chemical materials company, with more than 75% of its sales generated overseas.
Attending the agreement ceremony held in Seoul were Park Wan-su, Governor of Gyeongnam Province; Park Il-ho, Mayor of Miryang; Heo Yeon-jin, CEO of Kookdo Chemical; Hong Jun-pyo, Head of the Gyeongnam Regional Headquarters of Korea Land and Housing Corporation; Park Seong-gil, Head of the Gyeongnam Regional Headquarters of Korea Industrial Complex Corporation; and other corporate officials.
Kookdo Chemical plans to build a factory through large-scale investment on a 49,185㎡ site within the Miryang Nano Convergence National Industrial Complex to produce eco-friendly products and applied/composite materials using nanotechnology.
Established in 1972, Kookdo Chemical recorded sales of 1.5 trillion KRW last year through about 1,400 customers in over 80 countries worldwide. More than 75% of its sales are generated overseas, confirming its status as a global leader in advanced chemical materials.
In addition to epoxy and curing agents, Kookdo Chemical is developing its polyol business, a raw material for polyurethane, mainly through its Chinese subsidiary. Domestically, through subsidiaries such as Kookdo Finechem and Kookdo Advanced Materials, the company is expanding its business into advanced materials fields including high-performance resins for composite materials, eco-friendly diluents, and ACF (anisotropic conductive films).
CEO Heo said, "We plan to establish state-of-the-art production facilities by utilizing Miryang City's excellent location and the infrastructure of the Nano Convergence National Industrial Complex," adding, "We will strive to become a company that coexists with the local community by working together with Miryang City."
