A North Korean Defector Woman Living Alone Found as a Skeleton in Winter Clothes in Apartment
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] A North Korean defector woman living alone was found in a skeletal state in her home, prompting the police to launch an investigation.
According to the Yangcheon Police Station in Seoul on the 25th, on the 19th, a Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation (SH) official discovered the skeletal remains of a woman in her 40s, a North Korean defector, in a rental apartment in Yangcheon-gu and reported it to the police.
The SH official visited the woman's home after failing to contact her as the contract renewal deadline approached and found the body.
Since she was found wearing winter clothes, the police estimate that she died last winter.
She was actively working as a counselor for North Korean defectors but stopped counseling work in 2017 and lost contact.
