Yeosu-si Publishes 'COVID-19 Response White Paper' Documenting 2 Years and 5 Months of Records
Posting e-books on the website, planned for print publication next year as well
[Yeosu=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Cheol-hoon] Jeonnam Yeosu City (Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong) announced on the 20th that it has published a white paper documenting the two-year COVID-19 response process.
This white paper contains detailed records of Yeosu City's responses and quarantine measures from the first confirmed COVID-19 case in Korea in January 2020 to May 2022, including emergency disaster relief fund distribution and the operation status of screening clinics.
Part 1 covers an overview and current status of COVID-19, Part 2 details the COVID-19 response system, major activities, and vaccination, and Part 3 includes vivid stories from those who faced the COVID-19 crisis together.
According to the white paper, by May 2022, a total of about 1.2 million citizens used Yeosu City's screening clinics (including drive-thru testing).
Additionally, until 2021, a total of 72,659 specimens were sent to the Health and Environment Research Institute, indicating the urgency of on-site COVID-19 response efforts.
The Yeosu City "Immediate Response Team," composed of 72 members, conducted a total of 611 field dispatches and performed visit tests on 4,961 overseas entrants and contacts by May.
Meanwhile, the newly published "COVID-19 Response White Paper" is expected to be used to establish a faster and more effective infectious disease response system in the event of similar situations in the future.
This year, it will first be posted as an e-book on the city’s website, and next year, it will be available as a physical book.
Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong said, "I thank all medical staff, public officials, and quarantine personnel who worked tirelessly day and night in response to COVID-19. Although the COVID-19 situation continues, we are overcoming it wisely thanks to the mature civic consciousness."
He added, "This white paper contains the intense COVID-19 response process over the past two years and five months. Whatever crisis comes in the future, we will overcome it well by building on this experience."
