Gyeonggi-do to Conduct Special Crackdown on 'Overdue Vehicles' in 31 Cities and Counties on the 26th
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will conduct a special crackdown on vehicles with overdue automobile taxes across all 31 cities and counties in the province on the 26th, in cooperation with related organizations such as the National Police Agency and the Korea Expressway Corporation.
The targets for seizure are vehicles with overdue automobile taxes and fines, focusing on areas with high vehicle density such as residential neighborhoods, densely populated areas, and public parking lots, where license plate seizures will be carried out.
Owners of vehicles whose license plates have been seized must visit their local city or county office or financial institution to pay the full amount of overdue automobile taxes in order to retrieve their license plates.
As of the end of February this year, the overdue automobile tax amount in Gyeonggi Province stands at 186.93 billion KRW.
The province conducted two rounds of mass crackdowns on overdue vehicles in April and September this year, seizing 1,954 vehicles and collecting 369 million KRW in overdue automobile taxes.
