The Korea Arts & Culture Education Service announced on the 21st that it has signed a business agreement with Korea Land & Housing Corporation (LH) for a pilot project of artist support housing. In line with the new government's national agenda to 'strengthen the welfare safety net for artists,' customized rental housing and services tailored to the needs of artists will be provided.
Artist support housing is a themed public rental housing that provides services required by artist residents. It offers customized living spaces as well as shared spaces. The rent is set at 50% or less of the market price, and residents can live there for up to 20 years.

Park Jong-gwan, chairman of the Arts Council Korea, explained, "We will proceed with a themed rental housing public offering method based on a new construction purchase agreement," adding, "Within this year, LH will utilize 60 existing purchase rental housing units located in Seocho-gu, Seoul." He continued, "We plan to sign the lease contract next month, recruit residents, and start move-in between January and February of next year."
