Seongnam-si, All Vehicles of Non-Tax Revenue Defaulters 'Seized'
[Asia Economy (Seongnam) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province has seized the vehicles of 221 individuals who are delinquent in non-tax revenue such as fines.
On the 21st, Seongnam City announced that it had seized all vehicles of those who have been delinquent in non-tax revenue at least once in the past five years and have not paid despite receiving fine payment notices. The number of delinquent cases and the amount owed total 996 cases and 1.54 billion won.
As a result of the seizure, the names of the delinquent individuals will be listed on the vehicle registration records, preventing them from exercising property rights such as transferring ownership, selling, or canceling the vehicle registration. The statute of limitations for collection rights (5 years) will also be suspended until the seizure is lifted.

A city official stated, "In addition to vehicles, we will seize real estate and financial assets of non-tax revenue delinquents to prevent prolonged delinquency and increase collection rates. However, for those delinquent due to livelihood reasons, we will encourage installment payments to support their economic activities and recovery."
