View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Namyangju City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 20th that "Mr. Kim Nam-woon, a resident of Jinjeop-eup, designated a donation of 30 million KRW to Namyangju City through the Namyangju Welfare Foundation to support young adults preparing for independence (former protective children)."
The donation will be used for daily necessities support, move-in celebration items, education expenses, and more for young adults preparing for independence.
Mr. Kim Nam-woon said, "After hearing news that young adults whose protection period in child care facilities has ended are struggling to settle in society, I decided to donate to help local young adults preparing for independence to achieve stable social integration," adding, "I want to support young adults taking their first steps into society to stand on their own."
In response, Mayor Joo Kwang-deok said, "I sincerely thank the donor who actively engages in sharing activities for children and youth, including this donation," and added, "We will prepare support measures to care for young adults until they can independently and stably settle in society."
According to the city, as of October this year, there are a total of 66 young adults preparing for independence in Namyangju City, and the city is conducting monitoring for five years to help them adapt to society.
