At a press conference in front of the National Assembly Legislation and Judiciary Committee plenary meeting room, the Democratic Party committee members stated, "Ultimately, the Yoon Seok-yeol administration has chosen the path of suppressing the opposition party. The political revenge investigation that President Yoon Seok-yeol pledged during the presidential election is being blatantly carried out," and demanded the suspension of the search and seizure at the Democratic Party central headquarters, an apology from President Yoon Seok-yeol and Minister of Justice Han Dong-hoon, the resignation of Prosecutor General Lee Won-seok, and disciplinary action against the prosecution leadership involved in the search and seizure, including the Seoul District Prosecutor's Office chief.
Democratic Party lawmakers, including Ki Dong-min, the Democratic Party secretary of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee, explained, "Yesterday, the Anti-Corruption Division 3 of the Seoul District Prosecutor's Office attempted to search the Democratic Research Institute," adding, "Although the office of Kim Yong, the deputy director of the Democratic Research Institute, was targeted, there is neither practical benefit nor reason to conduct the search. Deputy Director Kim was appointed recently, and his access record is only three times."
They argued, "Under these circumstances, the prosecution's search and seizure is a clear suppression of the opposition party," and claimed, "The prosecution's attempt to search and seize is a declaration of giving up cooperation, integration, and politics for the people's livelihood." The Democratic Party members of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee criticized, "The prosecution's attempt to search and seize disregards the National Assembly and belittles the opposition party."
The Democratic Party committee members stated that if their demands for suspension of the search and seizure and apologies and disciplinary actions from the involved parties are not accepted, they "will not participate in the National Assembly audit."

After the press conference, Representative Ki refrained from commenting on whether he would attend the upcoming audit during a Q&A with reporters. He said, "Please focus only on today's events," and added, "I will withhold comments on the next steps as I do not know what outrageous acts might be carried out."
